Position SummaryPrimary DutiesWorking independently, under general direction, the Compliance Coordinator performs a wide variety of complex administrative, analytical, research, developmental, and technical duties for the Title IX and DHR Investigations and Clery Compliance units. Additional responsibilities include, developing operational and procedural recommendations, maintaining units website, creating reports and publications, using desktop publishing and spreadsheet applications, database maintenance for case management, statistics and compliance tracking, serving as the units information technology expert, and developing and maintaining filing systems for confidential information, including evidence documents.For a full description of job duties, please visit: https://csuchico.box.com/v/VA1306-Position-DescriptionKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKNOWLEDGE:Incumbent must possess:

  • Mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Expertise in using office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook), technology and systems.
  • Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the University infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of office systems, methods, procedures and practices.
  • Fluency in using standard office equipment (computers, copiers, phones).
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Records retention practices and policies.
  • Desktop publishing applications.SKILLS:Incumbent must possess:
    • Active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills as work often involves frontline contact with a variety of campus and community individuals to perform services and support functions that require a professional demeanor at all times.
    • Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions.
    • Demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing.
    • Typing and keyboarding skills.ABILITIES:Must have the ability to:
      • Interpret independently, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures, and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist.
      • Apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems, participate in developing practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions, where specific guidelines may not exist.
      • Become familiar with the procedures and policies that govern the investigation process to ensure that all time lines are met and that the procedure is in compliance with relevant Executive Orders.
      • Effectively handle a broad range of diverse interpersonal contacts and maintain positive professional contact with all members of the campus community, the Chico community, parents of students, attorneys, and Chancellors Office legal staff.
      • Understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
      • Take initiative in performing duties, and consistently oversee units response and investigation process for each report or investigation.
      • Organize and direct work flow for the smooth and effective operation of the work unit.
      • Demonstrate a high degree of tact and sensitivity in working with students, faculty, staff, parents and members of the Chico community.
      • Troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area, and explain standard policies and procedures to others.
      • Analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend and evaluate proposed solutions.
      • Understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solution on other areas.
      • Perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
      • Effectively write and present own reports using judgment and discretion in selecting and analyzing information for inclusion.
      • Use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
      • Effectively handle a broad range of diverse interpersonal contacts, including those at a high level and those sensitive in nature.
      • Independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
      • Understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
      • Clearly communicate orally and in writing.
      • Perform assigned duties.Required Education and/or ExperienceThis position requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. These qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with four years of related office work experience.Additional Requirements for this PositionCandidates selected for an interview will be asked to demonstrate their proofreading skills during the interview.Recruitment PreferencesPreference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
        • Fluent written and verbal multi-lingual/bilingual skills.
        • Experience with Title IX, Title VII, Clery, VAWA, California Fair Employment and Housing Act, and other relevant laws.
        • Experience working in a legal setting.
        • Experience proofreading legal or similar documents.
        • Experience working with people in crisis, or experience advocating on behalf of people in need of support.
        • Confidentiality.
        • Experience managing multiple calendars.Special Requirements

          • This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act and is required to comply with the requirements of this designation.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office. Must be able to travel across campus to other offices and buildings on campus for meetings and events.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed in a typical, open office environment in a shared work area with high traffic from students, faculty and administrators, and operates standard office equipment.
