PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the
largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These
renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high
elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada
and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of
canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of
penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all
covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission (FERC). Position Summary Responsible for the
safe and efficient operation of a Fossil Generation facility.
Ensures plant operational goals are met and operational excellence
is achieved and maintained. The Power Gen Energy Resources
Supervisor may perform the work of the Maintenance Supervisor as
well if the operations dictate this at smaller sites. PG&E is
providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes
it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This
compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The
actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple
factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education,
licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic
location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful
candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or
entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a
case-by-case basis related to these factors.? A reasonable salary
range is:? California Minimum: $?125,000 California Maximum:
$215,000 Responsibilities Responsible for the safe operation,
performance, reliability, adherence to regulatory and corporate
requirements and the day-to-day operation of assigned fossil
generating facility. Assures plant operations are in full
compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Supervises the work of Fossil or Solar and Electrical Technicians
to ensure the Fossil sites are operated in a safe, reliable and
efficient manner. Evaluates, trains and qualifies Fossil Power
Plant Technicians, Advanced Power Plant Technicians or Solar and
Electrical Technicians. Ensures that the operations staff functions
in a manner consistent with plant and company goals and policies.
Manages day-to-day operational schedule and strives to meet plant
performance goals. Participates as Subject Matter Expert in the
development and implementation of Power Generation operating
procedures, standards, and controls to ensure operational goals are
achieved. Evaluates plant operations to identify and implement
opportunities for safety, reliability, and efficiency improvements
and reports forced and planned outages to state regulators.
Communicates with energy procurement organization around plant
availability and cost. Ensures effective communication with
operations staff and dispatch. Develops operations budget plan and
monitors and manages costs to maintain budget. Participates in root
cause analysis, forced event reporting, program audits, accident
investigation and Power Safety Public Shutoff (PSPS) planning.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED 5
years of experience in power plant operations or renewables
operations Desired Qualifications: Supervisory experience in
combined cycle fossil generation facilities Frame combustion
turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG's), continuous
emission monitoring systems experience Experience with internal and
external operational audits and resolution. Experience with
oversight and maintenance of regulatory compliance with State and
Federal Agencies. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other
relevant technical discipline Professional Engineer (PE) license
Operations experience at a fossil facility Experience with
supervising an Operations team at a fossil facility Experience
writing and revising operations procedures Knowledge of
computerized maintenance management system Proficiency with
Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Project
