Allevity Recruiting & Staffing has been engaged to conduct a high
priority search for a President & CEO for the Chico Chamber of
Commerce. We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and exceptional
leader to join this amazing organization. The President & CEO is a
highly visible leadership position responsible for providing
vision, guidance, and strategic direction for the programs and
staff of the Chico Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has an
enthusiastic and hardworking staff, a committed board of directors,
a proactive group of volunteers, and represents over 600 Members
and Community Impact Partners who share the vision of a thriving
business community, a healthy city government, community safety,
and premier arts and recreation facilities. This role will have a
significant influence on the continued thoughtful growth and
development of the Chico area and broader North State.
Primary Role of the President & CEO
This position will provide high profile leadership, vision,
guidance and strategic direction for the programs and personnel of
the Chico Chamber of Commerce
This executive will facilitate and lead staff and Board efforts to
achieve the mission and goals of the Chamber as approved by the
Board of Directors
The CEO has full P&L responsibility and will demonstrate
knowledge and expertise on economic development principles, the
regional economy, political environment, marketing and branding
concepts, membership sales, and the opportunities and challenges to
the growth and prosperity of large and small employers in the
region
The CEO must also demonstrate openness to ideas from a variety of
sources and focus on achieving high performance outcomes
Position Requirements
Has proven leadership skills, is dynamic, self-motivated,
analytical, passionate and understands the vital role that the
Chamber plays in supporting and enhancing its business
community
Possesses a strong executive presence and confidence to interact
and achieve high visibility with city, county and state elected
officials
Has the ability to develop strong relationships with other
associations, industry, government, media, and public service
groups
Has direct experience working with boards and/or multiple
stakeholder groups and is able to inspire and accomplish work
through a volunteer leadership organization
Will be the main point of contact with established leaders within
the community (business and otherwise)
Understands and is involved in the political process, has knowledge
of local government operations and working knowledge of economic
development and can effectively advocate for businesses at local,
state and regional government levels
Can successfully solicit, fundraise and secure sponsorships and
membership dollars from both private and public sector
Has direct experience in revenue growth, budgeting & financial
management, bookkeeping, staff development, oversight &
management
Proven ability to appropriately protect confidential information
related to staff, chamber members and business partners
Previous involvement in, and the desire to advocate for small
business and promote healthy and sustainable economic growth in the
community
Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Public Administration, or a
related field
Strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
The ideal candidate must have at least 10 years of experience and a
proven track record of success. This experience may come from a
variety of backgrounds such as: the top executive within a
progressive and effective comparably-sized chamber of commerce,
economic development organization, or related significant business
association or other nonprofit organization; an executive with a
strong record of community involvement from a complex private or
public-sector entity
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Business, Law, Public Administration or a
related field
A graduate of the U.S. Chamber's Institute for Organization
Management, Western Association of Chamber Executives' Academy,
Certified Chamber Executive designation, or Certified Economic
Developer designation is desirable

a 501(c)(6) organization, representing over 600 Members and
Community Impact Partners who invest in the mission and vision. The
Chamber is one of the largest business advocacy organizations in
the North State and is dedicated to strengthening our economy and
quality of life through local and regional advocacy, economic
development, sector strategies, and business development and
retention. The level of collaboration between the private sector
and public sector is exceptionally strong. As the go-to business
organization in the region, the Chamber consistently takes the lead
in community and business development conversations and
