Roles & Responsibilities Provide safe, compassionate medical-surgical nursing care during night shifts Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor changes, and intervene appropriately Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per orders and protocol Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care Respond effectively to emergencies and use advanced life support skills when needed Accurately document care, handoffs, and clinical observations in the EHR Educate patients and families to promote recovery and safe transitions Qualifications Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Negative TB screen within 12 months of contract start date (proof required) Experience in medical-surgical nursing and comfort working 12-hour night shifts Ability to pass facility onboarding and credentialing in a timely manner Knowledge & Skills Strong medical-surgical clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills Proficient medication administration and IV/infusion management Comfortable responding to acute changes and emergency situations Effective communication and teamwork during night shift operations Accurate electronic health record documentation and handoff skills Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced clinical setting Benefits Support finding furnished local housing and temporary rentals (local resources provided) A focused schedule of three 12-hour nights for extended days off and work-life balance Licensure and credential support guidance to help you get started quickly A collaborative team environment where your clinical judgment is respected Access to local HR contacts for smooth onboarding and housing assistance Opportunities to sharpen your Med/Surg and critical care skills during nights Meaningful patient care — make a real difference in a close-knit community Friendly, responsive recruiter and HR support to keep your assignment running smoothly Travel Perks: Explore Arcata, CA Arcata and Humboldt County are a nature-lover’s playground.
