Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Perioperative - Discipline: RN - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Travel Pre-Op/PACU RN | Arcata, CA | $2,597/week Location: Arcata, California Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: 40 hours per week (Nights) Weekly Gross Pay: $2,597.00 ($1,120 Taxable $1,477 Non-Taxable Stipends) Position Overview: A healthcare facility in Arcata, CA, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This role involves providing high-quality care to patients both before and after surgical procedures, ensuring safe recovery from anesthesia and effective pain management. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced perioperative environment and maintain exceptional clinical standards. Non-Negotiable Required Qualifications: Please note: Candidates who do not meet 100% of the following criteria will not be considered for this role. Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or Perioperative nursing. License & Certifications: Active California (CA) RN License, BLS, and ACLS certifications (must be current). Health Clearance: TB clearance completed within the last 12 months. Clinical Expertise: Mastery of perioperative nursing processes, including pre-operative assessment and post-anesthesia recovery monitoring. Technical Skills: Proficiency in monitoring vital signs, managing vasoactive drips (if applicable), and utilizing EMR systems (Epic experience preferred). Professionalism: Excellent communication and customer service skills; must demonstrate tact and empathy when dealing with patients, families, and surgical staff. Operational Skills: Strong organization and prioritization skills to manage a dynamic surgical schedule effectively. Autonomy: Proven ability to work effectively and solve clinical problems in a high-acuity environment without immediate supervision. Key Responsibilities: Perioperative Care: Provide expert nursing care across the pre-operative and post-anesthesia phases, including patient preparation and immediate post-op recovery. Patient Monitoring: Conduct frequent, accurate assessments of vital signs, level of consciousness, and surgical sites to ensure patient safety during recovery. Pain & Nausea Management: Administer and titrate medications as prescribed to manage post-operative symptoms, monitoring closely for adverse reactions. Patient Advocacy: Act as a clinical leader at the bedside, ensuring patients' physical and emotional needs are met throughout their surgical journey. Collaboration: Effectively communicate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient transitions and safety. Documentation: Maintain precise, real-time electronic medical records in compliance with California state healthcare standards.
