Job Description:

The New Beginnings is a forensic mental health agency located in California, specializing in the treatment and assessment of adult male and female offenders. Our agency consists of a team of experienced clinicians from diverse backgrounds who specialize in the assessment and treatment of offenders. New Beginnings follows the "Practice Standards and Guidelines" of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and is a CASOMB Certified Sex Offender Agency. New Beginnings offers vast opportunities to enhance clinical, assessment and professional growth.
Position Description for Clinical Coordinator: Clinical Coordinator will receive extensive training and supervision in sex offender and forensic experience. Under the supervision of a licensed MFT or LCSW, the clinical coordinator will conduct forensic assessments, provide specialized treatment and participate in Containment Meetings. Candidates must have experience and be passionate about working with the forensic population in a multidisciplinary team setting. The right candidate must have demonstrated competence in working directly with clients and possess working knowledge of individual and group experience.
Responsibilities Include: We expect the coordinator to engage in clinical practices for approximately 50-60% of time, while other 50-40% will be focused on administrative work, meetings, training and supervision.

  • Under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional, develops, implements, coordinates, specialized treatment plans for individuals enrolled in New Beginnings.
  • Provides outpatient psychotherapy and clinical assessment and treatment of sex offenders
  • Provides appropriate support to individual's family. May develop and conduct psychoeducational classes and groups.
  • Conduct psychosocial evaluations and risk assessments, including interpretation, and recommendations.
  • Prepares intake summaries, case summaries and maintains ongoing confidential records.
  • Ensure all clients in your region are assigned and receiving services, including organizing coverage
  • Clinical assessment and treatment of non-offending relatives
  • Participates in monthly Containment Meetings (CTMs) in accordance with agency's policies
  • Ensures Treatment Modifications are written and submitted in accordance with agency's policies
  • Maintain program documentation as required (i.e., ensuring sign-in binders get to the respective office, marking attendance, MSAs, progress reports, etc)
  • Receive list of scheduled polygraphs from operations and ensure referral questions for each client are discussed at CTM. Develop questions in collaboration with: Parole, Primary Clinicians and Supervisors. Operations will send questions to examiner.
  • Represent the agency as needed in the community (i.e. serving on committees, making presentations on our programs, etc)
  • Participate in agency clinical meetings, team meetings and staff meetings as well as participate in in-service training.
  • Ongoing communication with referral sources
  • Attend trainings, conferences, and workshops
  • Provide court testimony-- Assists in monitoring/maintaining client records and clinician assignments for clients and groups in OCM.-- Collaborate with and give feedback to Directors on agency growth, risk management, and overall quality assurance of all programs.-- Collaborate with Clinical Director to interview/train new clinicians-- Coordinating audits/responses/plans of correction
    • Review documentation as needed for employee reviews, complete employee reviews as requested
    • Provide initial orientation and training for new coordinators and clinicians-- Encourage subordinates to appeal your decision up the chain of command without fear of offending you or causing any negative repercussions to them.-- Maintain confidentiality of Leadership Team meetings, email, phone and other correspondence that you are privileged to access as a result of your position. If in doubt as to the ability to disclose information outside of the Leadership Team, do not disclose without specific authorization of the Executive Director.-- Take responsibility for any communication that comes to you relative to the agency, ensure follow up on inquiries and serve as the facilitator for the dissemination of accurate information within New Beginnings. If you do not know, take the time to find out and then share the correct information.

        Qualifications Include: Graduation from an accredited program with a degree as an MFT, MSW or clinical psychologist required. Preferred: Licensure by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (LCSW, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist) and must be able to practice in California. Experience providing CBT in group and individual settings is required.
        • Ability to organize and run a treatment group with adult men or women
        • Ability to produce accurate and complete assessments formulated from knowledge of sex offender dynamics
        • Ability to write effective case notes and report on data from files
        • Ability to work independently; but relate issues to manager appropriately
        • Ability to work effectively when under extreme pressure
        • Adhere to California Sex Offender Management Board - State Certification Requirements (CASOMB)
        • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage difficult client discussions
        • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and outside agencies
        • Dedication to preventing further sexual victimization and ability to address difficult issues with a challenging population
        • Proven track record of reliability and consistency of high performance
        • Strong desire to learn and grow professionally
        • Exhibits an exemplary work ethic by being highly organized, detailed, and thorough
