Summary

Butte County Behavioral Health's Psychiatric Health Facility has a Regular Help Behavioral Health Worker position opening. This position works night shifts, Sunday-Thursday, 10:45pm-7:15am. This Regular Help position's duties include, but are not limited to, the following: assisting with basic hygiene needs, documenting of treatment plans, transporting consumers, observing consumer behaviors and needs, basic phone skills and clerical duties. Applicants must have a current California Driver's License. A 5% Site Differential and an additional $1.00 night shift differential is offered in addition to the salary range of this classification.

This recruitment may be used to fill other positions within the Butte County Department of Behavioral Health.

Under close supervision, assists behavioral health professionals in providing a variety of behavioral health services including outreach, recovery training, case management, and peer support to individuals receiving mental health or substance abuse services in the community.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

* Assists in providing a basic level of general and behavioral health support and companionship to consumers who have functional impairment related to mental illness, emotional disturbance or substance abuse. * Responds to heightened situations flexibly and works with individuals in crisis. * Assists individuals in developing natural supports and community living, so a greater sense of identity can be established. * Educates other agencies and community members regarding the needs of consumers and family members who are living with a mental illness and working towards recovery. * Performs reception activities; answers phone; responds to question and inquiries; provides information to the public and other agencies. * Checks in consumers; pulls charts, medical records and other materials; participates in consumer orientation. * Informs consumers about Medi-Cal services; helps consumers to better understand the benefits of mental health services. * Assists consumers with applications; explains eligibility requirements; coordinates transportation for consumers; enrolls and recertifies patients. * Educates the public and agency workers on a variety of health promotion and disease prevention issues. * Documents and captures all consumer interaction and maintains timely reporting of same per agency standards and Medi-Cal billing requirements. * May perform basic nursing procedures such as administering treatments and taking and charting temperature, pulse and respiration as allowed. * Observes consumers' behavior; reports significant changes to supervisor or physician; documents appropriately. * Performs a variety of housekeeping duties, such as cleaning rooms and bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, washing windows and carpets, and arranging for consumers' laundry and bed linens to be cleaned. * Participates in individual and group activities, and provides one-on-one activities with consumers; assists consumers with feeding, habit training and maintaining a well-groomed appearance. * Protects consumers from personal injury; assists in restraining consumers as necessary. * Adheres to the confidentiality standards of the Privacy Act of 1974, {U.S.C. 552A} as amended. * Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED equivalent certificate. * Successful completion of Peer Employment Training within 45 days of hire date. * Must be at least 18 years of age. * A State of California driver's license may be required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements

* Work is performed in a clinic, home, community, and/or office environment. * Work involves the potential for exposure to hostile situations and infectious diseases; some non-standard work hours may be required.
