Our focus is on improving the health and well-being of all individuals by offering inpatient, outpatient and rural health clinic services to the Glenn County community.JOB SUMMARY:The Ward Clerk is responsible for performing general secretarial and clerical duties in a well-organized manner. His/her presence must be complimentary in creating a healing environment for patients and staff.QUALIFICATIONS:High school graduate or equivalency certification. At least 1 year with Ward Clerk experience. Familiarity with patient care, medications, medical procedures and medical terminology. Function and organization of nursing unit. Strong communication skills. Observe patient confidentiality. Adhere to policies and procedures and emergency protocols. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assemble all patient chartsObtain previous medical record on admitsTranscribe physician orders using appropriate order slips -all new lab, x-ray, physical therapy and cardiopulmonary and pharmacy will be initiated by phoneRecopy MARsStamp I for subsequent daysOrder daily/routine lab and x-rayStuff patient chartsDaily diet sheetsOrder supplies from Purchasing as neededSet up patient chart for prescheduled admitsMake copies of patient census for shiftsNotify Admitting and all other involved departments of patient discharge/room change/expiration/transferFile lab and other reports after physician viewsCommunication of patient/unit activity to nursing staff is vitalMust be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and/or services appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience
